Changes to the California I.C.P.C. make it easier for California Residents
Effective January 1, 2005

LIMITS PLACED ON THE INTERSTATE COMPACT (ICPC)
THE ICPC NO LONGER APPLIES WHEN A BIRTH MOTHER WHO RESIDES OUTSIDE OF CA BUT DELIVERS HER CHILD IN CA, PLACING THE CHILD WITH A CA RESIDENT FOR THE PURPOSES OF ADOPTION.

Section 7907.5 is added to California Family Code to read: 7907.5. (a) A child who is born in this state and placed for adoption in this state with a resident of this state is not subject to the provisions of the Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children.

THIS NEW LAW ALLOWS THE ADOPTION PROCESS TO PROCEED IN A MORE EFFECTIVE AND EFFICIENT MANNER.
